Interiors by Nelly Green reflect a fresh modern English style. The theme of the "Bloomsbury Set" has been used in many of the rooms with a huge mural in the brasserie reflecting scenes of contemporary "Canterbury life".
The drawing rooms are in the spirit of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant who were influenced by Matisse and some of the more colourful French painters. All rooms are individually designed with furniture made to Nelly's specifications. Her attention to quality and detail is evident throughout.
The 52 bedrooms and suites are designed with the modern traveler in mind. Each is equipped with a safe, a CD system, DVD and VCR, two line telephone with voice mail, modem point, fax machine, cellular telephone and large writing desk.
Bathrooms are beautifully designed in solid granite and oak with double basins, separate walk-in showers and colour TV's. There are special rooms too, such as the four Loft Suites with their soaring ceilings and windows and two open plan Penthouse Suites with private elevators and spectacular views overlooking the rooftops of Canterbury.
The ground floor is pure activity. A spacious reception area leads onto a spectacular drawing room and library each with a log burning fireplace. There is "Squash", a juice bar off the lobby, as well as "Oscar", a large brasserie with long pewter bar and open plan kitchen. The hotel's "entertainment centre" incorporates a state-of-the-art screening room as well as several meeting and private dining rooms.
A multi purpose double sports hall 37m x 35m and a new sports hall, 32m x 17m, capable of accommodating the following sports:
The Sport Centre also has a sauna, 1 fast tanning and one standard sunbed.
This 60 x 40 ft gymnasium contains new "state of the art" CYBEX resistance equipment together with:
There are four courts located behind the Sports Centre and eight courts adjacent to the hotel.
